In some neighborhoods, decorating outside during the holidays is like winning the winter Olympics so be prepared to be creative and have fun with the whole family. Before you get started, perhaps you can take the family for a drive on the day after Thanksgiving…this is when most of the die-hard Christmas decorating “gurus” put out their holiday lights. There is no hard fast rule but at least you can plan the beginnings of your masterpiece.

If you can, plan your light display ahead of time. Many people check their lights and displays before they put them away for the season. Then, the following year, when Thanksgiving rolls around, you are prepared and you have purchased some additional items you may need for that year.

One thing to consider, if you put your lights out during Thanksgiving, the ground will not be so frozen. Frozen ground is something to consider if you live in the northern part of the United States or Canada. Just because you put the decorations out early doesn’t mean you have to turn them on yet. known iconic holiday images. By selecting characters of Christmas, small children will remember and enjoy the holiday’s with some of their favorite Saturday morning cartoon characters. This is where the inflatable Christmas decorations come along.

Many people like the inflatable Christmas decorations because they are BIG, are lit and often times look real. If you choose to put up an inflatable, keep the decoration away from very pointed objects and away from a fence line where someone can reach over and puncture a hole through it.

Christmas, for many, has a deep religious meaning and outdoor Christmas nativity scenes celebrate the true meaning of he holiday season. With this thought are images of a lighted Nativity scene with the star of Bethlehem. On display are, the Baby Jesus in a manger, Mary, Joseph and animals all lit up to display your love of Christ and his birthday.

Many of the nativity sets come in varying sizes and are based on lawn dimensions and pieces you will add.  You can have a scene that has lights or, if the scene is large, spot lights can be used to accent the site.

An indoor Christmas Tree does not have to be relegated to one place – decorate a tree outside! For example, if you have a bush or tree, make a family tradition of stringing popcorn (hot-air popped, no salt or oils) and cranberries, add some lights and viola! A beautiful eco-friendly, bird loving tree will liven up any suburban or country setting. Be sure to keep the binoculars at hand for this wonderful display!

Whatever theme or creative efforts you put into your outdoor display, give yourself plenty of time to do it, keep the display to scale with your yard and house and most of all, just have fun. There is not an exact science to this wonderful, wonderful display of our love of Christmas but outdoor decorations tell the story well.
